As the Archive Assistant at the Arnold Arboretum Horticultural Library, I help to maintain the existing archives collections as well as incorporate new items and material as they are acquired. I also participate in overall library operations and look forward to promoting the library, archives, and Arnold Arboretum through exhibits, publications, and social media. I am a strong believer in access of information and hope to help make the library available and easy to use for staff, patrons, and researchers, both online and in person.
Before joining the Arboretum staff, I worked at a number of institutions including the archives at the Harvard Art Museums, where I was introduced to archival practices and the idea of getting a masters degree in library science. I attended Pratt Institute for graduate school and was very grateful to live in an apartment overlooking the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens so that I could watch the flowers and trees come into bloom each spring. I interned at the Whitney Museum of Art, The New York Public Library of Performance Art, processed material at Greenwood Cemetery, and eventually moved back to Massachusetts to work as a reference librarian at the Cape Cod Community College.
I currently live in Jamaica Plain and also work part-time as a Librarian at the Massachusetts State House Library. I have a love for artists’ books, the coast of Maine, cartoons, and brewery tours. On the weekends, I can be found exploring the Arboretum, the Blue Hills, or the many other green areas of Boston with my partner Brian and our Alaskan husky, Pearl.
