Landscape Institute
Read the announcement regarding the Landscape Institute’s new partnership with Boston Architectural College.
The Landscape Institute provides professional education in landscape design, history, and preservation.
Our practical, interdisciplinary approach allows people interested in the landscape to increase their knowledge and build their skills to achieve their own personal and business goals. In turn, our students and alumni are crucial partners in the Arnold Arboretum’s mission to "foster greater understanding, appreciation and stewardship of the Earth’s botanical diversity and its essential value to humankind."
A Flexible Approach
We offer our students a flexible approach to their education, in which they can:
- enroll in a single course to address a specific need or interest;
- build a sequence of courses to meet individual needs;
- earn a certificate in landscape design, landscape design history, or landscape preservation.
A Collaborative Community
Over the past 40 years, The Landscape Institute has cultivated a highly collaborative community of landscape professionals with a great deal of knowledge and passion. Our class format both perpetuates and leverages that sense of community, while fostering ongoing collaboration. Classes are conducted in either seminar or studio format to encourage direct student-faculty interaction, exchange of ideas among students, and student-instructor critiques. We maintain limited enrollment in each course to foster accessibility both to our experienced faculty of landscape professionals and academics, and to the diverse student population.
