49. Lonicera periclymenum ‘Graham Thomas’

Native to Europe, North Africa, and Asia Minor, this deciduous twining vine grows 10-20’ or even higher, depending on the supporting structure. Fragrant, slender, trumpet-shaped flowers occur in peduncled spikes, with 3-4 whorls of flowers in each. The cultivar ‘Graham Thomas’ has soft cream-yellow flowers that last from mid May into June. Thrives in full sun or light shade in moist organic soil that is well drained. A wonderful vine that would beautify a fence and attract hummingbirds. (100)
50. Lonicera sempervirens ‘Magnifica’

This native honeysuckle is distributed from Connecticut to Florida, west to Nebraska and Texas. The sweetly scented, tubular, orange flowers of this deciduous vine begin to open in late spring to early summer and often attract hummingbirds. Flowers are followed by bright red fruits that are attractive to birds. A twining vine reaching 10-12’ or even higher, it needs a trellis or fence for support. Thrives in full sun to light shade. Best growth is achieved in moist but well-drained organic soil. (100)
