Members’ Plant Giveaway
Saturday, September 17, 2016
10:00am – noon
Members of the Friends of the Arnold Arboretum at all levels are invited to participate in the 2016 Members’ Plant Giveaway in the Arboretum landscape.
The Members’ Plant Giveaway brings people and plants together in celebration of horticulture and plant diversity. The event gives members the opportunity to select free Arboretum-grown plants as a part of their membership benefits, gain first-hand expert knowledge from our staff, and enjoy the beauty of the Arboretum landscape during the change of seasons. This is a rain-or-shine event. You may send a proxy with your ticket if you are unable to attend.
Event details, including a Plant Giveaway ticket and list of plants, are mailed to all current members at the end of August. The ticket indicates the number of free plants available at your member level (check in at the Membership Tent on the day of the Giveaway if you need a reprint). Check out descriptions for the plant selections available at the 2016 Plant Giveaway, featuring taxa collected from historical accessions in the Arboretum collections or gathered on expedition. A drawing of additional plants from the Dana Greenhouses will follow the Plant Giveaway—members must be present at the drawing to claim a prize.
Members participating in the Plant Giveaway should follow directions to the Peters Hill Gate, enter the landscape through the Bussey Street Gate (directly across from the Peters Hill Gate), then refer to the map provided on the back of your Plant Giveaway ticket. Staff will be available to direct you to parking within the Arboretum landscape.
