A Dynamic Cultural Institution Rooted in Nature

The Arnold Arboretum represents a vital cultural resource for Boston and New England, both as a historical landscape designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and as a center for the study and appreciation of our natural heritage. Through outreach programs for adults and childen alike, the Arboretum inspires the public to engage with the Arboretum’s collections and with nature in general through guided and self-guided tours, classes and lectures, and Tree Mobs to name just a few. The Arboretum also provides a beautiful and welcoming environment for artists to create and share their work and inspiration with the community, from art shows in the Visitor Center, to special installations and performances in the landscape, to a new donor-funded artist-in-residence program.
