Championing sustainability and renewable energy

Embodying a unique partnership between Harvard University and the City of Boston, the Arnold Arboretum is committed to helping both entities build resiliency in the face of climate change and reach carbon neutrality by the year 2050. Projects toward this goal over the past decade have included modernizing upgrades at the Hunnewell Building and Dana Greenhouses, the opening of the LEED-gold certified Weld Hill Building, and the use of more Earth-friendly practices in the care and management of our plant collections and landscape. This fall, the Arboretum throws the switch on its biggest sustainability project yet, a state-of-the-art solar power and battery array at Weld Hill. Join our commitment and conversations about sustainability in our community as the Arboretum takes part in Climate Preparedness Week, September 24-30.
