As summer wanes, some autumnal tints are starting to show in the Arboretum. One of the earliest trees to color up is an Arboretum-introduced cultivar of red maple, Acer rubrum ‘Schlesingeri’–its foliage is already tinged reddish bronze and will end up bright scarlet. Read more about this tree here.
