Location: Garden in the Woods, Framingham
Explore the history, changes in composition, and ecology of the New England forest from the Ice Age through European settlement. Learn to identify native New England trees, their habitats, and their communities. Explore the impact of natural and human disturbances on the forested landscape and learn to recognize stands of different ages. Class meets at Garden in the Woods, Framingham; field trips take place at the Harvard Forest, Petersham, MA and The Arnold Arboretum, Boston, MA on Saturdays, October 15, 12:00–4:00pm and October 22, 9:00am–1:00pm.
