Hamamelis spp. “Witch-hazel” is our Tree of Month for March 2016. The Arnold Arboretum Horticultural Library and Archives will feature a new view of a Hammaelis specimen every Thursday of this month, so keep checking back!

Andrew Gapinski, Arnold Arboretum Manager of Horticulture, offers a rich history of witch-hazel cultivars in Arnoldia: “Hamamelidaceae, Exploring the Witch-hazels of the Arnold Arboretum,” Part One and Part Two.

George W. Root was a prolific photographer of the Arnold Arboretum landscape, and many thousands of images also are available in our Visual Archives. You can also see many of these images online in our exhibit, The Arboretum Through Time: Historic Views of Our Landscape.
