BA Literature with a minor in Women’s Studies (magna cum laude), University of Pittsburgh

I joined the Arboretum staff in late February 2011 as the executive assistant to the director. My primary responsibilities include providing administrative and program support to the director to ensure the smooth operation of the day-to-day affairs of the office. In addition to managing his schedule, I do research on various topics, manage communications for the director, arrange meetings, and provide support in all aspects of the director’s role.

I grew up in Eastern Pennsylvania and moved to the Boston area in 1997, beginning my career at the Harvard Business School in August 1998. I currently live in Woburn with my partner, Wendy, three tuxedo cats, an African Grey, and two cockatoos. I dabble in found object art and am a member of the Woburn Guild of Artists. The Guild supports local artists at all stages of their careers. I am the president of the board of directors for Saints and Sinners, an annual LGBT writing festival held in New Orleans each May. I have always enjoyed writing both fiction and nonfiction and have published over 50 short stories and essays in juried anthologies and magazines. I have edited three anthologies: Queer and Catholic (2008 Rutledge) with Trebor Healey; Saints and Sinners: New Fiction from the Festival (2010 Queer Mojo) with Paul J. Willis; and Saints and Sinners: New Fiction from the Festival 2 (2011 Queer Mojo), also with Paul J. Willis. I am currently working on a memoir about broken family bonds, food, and religion.

I love fashion and in my free time I design and sew clothes, “Sunday hats,” and art dolls. I putter around my yard, which is divided into a traditional English Garden and a fern shade garden, fretting about why my Wisteria won’t bloom and coming up with new projects to make the garden more friendly to birds.
