BBA, Roanoke College
I am a Massachusetts native who grew up in the western part of the state. I attended Roanoke College in Salem, VA graduating in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. After college, I relocated to San Francisco to begin a business career in residential real estate and personal banking. A desired career change found me working for Gentle Giant’s Gardening, a small landscape installation company specializing in drought tolerant designs throughout the Bay Area. We used native plants, permeable groundcovers, drip irrigation, and other techniques to design and install our gardens. During these formative years, I found a great interest and respect for the interrelationships between the landscape and the environment. Eventually, I returned home to Massachusetts after five years in San Francisco. I began working for Parterre Garden Services, a high end, large-scale installation company operating in the greater Boston area. I have since narrowed in on my career path to pursue work within the public landscape and conservation realms. My horticultural internship this summer at the Arnold served as a great start for providing valuable knowledge on the operations that take place at a world-class arboretum. I have recently joined the curation department to temporarily assist with the operations and learn more about the duties that take place within.
