Recent visiting scientist and Deland Award Recipient Juan Losada passed his PhD defense from the Aula Dei Experimental Station–CSIC, Spain. His graduate research focused on the events between pollination and fertilization, primarily the role of arabinogalactan proteins in pollen-pistil interactions in Malus and other genera in the Arboretum’s living collection.
